F.A.Q.
Training:
Q: How often should I train?
For quicker results, 2 to 3 times a week.
Q: What can I expect from my personal training sessions?
Education is a big piece of training. You’ll learn how to move with good form and how to achieve your personal fitness goals with weights, tempo, and reps.
Q: What should I eat before a training session?
It really varies person to person, but we generally suggest some electrolytes and a small complex carbohydrate such as citrus fruit.
Q: What if I have an injury or am recovering from an injury, can I still do personal training?
Yes.
Q: What is your refund policy?
We refund 50% of unused sessions for any reason. We can also offer a credit for any of our other services. Sessions are also transferable.
Q: Cancellation Policy?
We have a 24 hour cancellation policy. Cancellations within a 24 hour notice will be deducted from your package.
DEXA:
Q: What is a dexa scanner? How is it useful?
A DEXA or DXA scanner is an x-ray machine that can determine different levels of tissue and bone density. DEXA/DXA stands for Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry. Please see our DEXA page for the information you’ll receive from a DEXA scan.
Q: Does the DEXA technician have special training and/or a certification?
Yes, all of our Bone Densitomitrists Technologists are certified by the state of California.
Q: Can I share my dexa results with my doctor?
Yes, we encourage that.
Q: How much radiation exposure will I get from a DEXA scan?
An average DEXA scan is 0.4 microsieverts, equivalent to walking around in the sun for half a day or a 3hr plane flight. It’s a very, very low amount.
Q: How long does a DEXA scan take?
The scan itself will take 6 minutes, and the entire appointment approximately 25-30 minutes.
Q: Do I need an appointment?
Yes, appointments are required, but same day appointments can be accommodated. Click here to schedule an appointment.
Q: Do I need to prepare for my DEXA scan?
No, you do not need to fast, hydrate or alter any behavior. If you’re planning on doing a follow-up scan, we generally advise replicating the scan conditions from the first scan. Please avoid wearing metal.
Q: How often can/should I get a scan?
It really depends on your goals or medical need. For fitness or nutrition-related tracking, we recommend no more than once a month.
Q: Will I receive advice on how to achieve my goals?
Yes! We will help you interpret the results and offer expert advice on how to achieve your goals. More detailed, longer-duration coaching is available by connecting with one of our nutritionists or personal trainers.
Nutrition:
Q: What is it like to work with a nutritionist at Custom Fit?
Our dietitians and nutritionists create unique plans for each individual they work with. Generally, each client receives a customized health plan, which includes goals and an action plan along with specific foods to target or avoid and calorie and macronutrient recommendations. From there, each approach varies and may include nutrition tracking, recipes, a meal plan or more specific guidance based on medical conditions or sport specific goals.
Q: What can I expect from the 30 minute nutrition consultation?
The 30 minute nutrition consultation is an opportunity for new clients to ask one of our nutritionists or registered dietitians any nutrition related questions they have. We typically discuss topics such as balancing blood sugar, macronutrients, and what foods to target or minimize to achieve your desired results. The 30 minute consult is also a chance to discuss what working with a nutritionist at Custom Fit looks like and how we can help you achieve your goals through a more structured nutrition plan.
Q: Can a nutritionist help me with my gut health or other nutrition related medical condition?
Yes, it is very likely that our RDNs or nutritionists can help you with your nutrition related medical condition. However, there are some exceptions to this and we do not provide medical advice at Custom Fit. In some instances, we may refer out to a specialist such as a gastroenterologist.
Q: Can I get a customized meal plan to help me reach my goals?
Yes, Custom Fit offers nutrition packages that include custom meal plans.
Q: How much does working with a nutritionist at Custom Fit cost?
Nutrition programs range from $250-$1600 depending on the type of nutrition coaching, number of sessions, and if there is a meal plan included or not.
Q: How often should I meet with my nutritionist for coaching?
This depends on the person and their goals. Generally, we recommend checking in with your nutritionist every other week.

Physical Therapy:
Q: What is the cancellation policy?
We would appreciate 48 hours notice if you need to cancel so that we may open your appointment time to other patients. If you cancel with less than 48 hours notice, we will waive the fee for the first missed appointment, charge you half the cost of the visit for the second missed appointment, and the full cost of the visit for any missed appointments thereafter.
Q: Do I need a prescription?
You do not need a doctor’s prescription to see a Physical Therapist in California. You can be treated by a Physical therapist for 12 sessions or 45 calendar days, whichever occurs first. Beyond this period, you are able to continue with Physical Therapy only after having received an in person examination and approval of your Physical Therapist’s plan of care by a physician, osteopath or podiatrist, certified in the state of California.
Some health insurance companies still do require a physician's referral in order to cover Physical Therapy services. We will help you determine if you insurance company requires a Physical Therapy prescription prior to your first visit.

Exceptional patient experiences: Since 2002, 96% of our patients would recommend us to a friend or family member.
Individualized, focused care approach: We offer a one (1) hour appointment for evaluations AND follow up visits. This allows you and your Physical Therapist to thoroughly address your concerns. You won’t have aides or assistants taking over your care, and you won’t have pre-programmed therapy.
Quality care valued: Our costs reflect the time, expertise, and energy we devote to you and improving your quality of life.
Agile is one of the few clinics in the Bay Area that offers individualized, patient-centered care. All of our team therapists are amongst the best in the profession. Following a comprehensive evaluation, your therapist will work with you to develop a unique treatment plan tailored to your specific condition. While our rates may be higher, the individualized, focused care approach we believe in at Agile often results in far superior outcomes in fewer visits than other clinics. We are conveniently located in Palo Alto, San Mateo, San Francisco, Redwood City, Los Altos, and Los Angeles. Come visit us!
Q: How long will it take for Agile to know exactly how much I will owe?
Our goal is to have all our billing submitted to your insurance within 7 days of your visit. From there, it is in the hands of your insurance company. On average, we see insurance companies process claims within thirty (30) to forty-five (45) days.
Q: Do I pay at the time of my visit?
Yes, we kindly request you pay your co-insurance at the time of your visit.
Q: Do you take my insurance?
When you call to make your first appointment, we will request your insurance information to confirm your benefits and determine if you will have a co-insurance payment due at each visit. This estimate is not intended to be a release from responsibility for a balance due. We recommend our patients verify their physical therapy benefits with their insurance company prior to initiating care.
Q: What should I wear?
Please wear comfortable clothing (shorts or workout pants, and a tank top or t-shirt) that allows the therapist access to your injured/hurt area. For women with shoulder and neck issues, wearing a tank top or camisole will allow therapist better access to your area of concern.
Q: What can I expect to happen on my first visit?
On your first visit your Physical Therapist will perform a thorough evaluation of strength, range of motion and a functional biomechanical analysis of the involved region. You will be working together to develop a comprehensive treatment program to address your needs. Read more.
